Nzelu and Johnson Crowned 2019 Homecoming Queen and King

Homecoming queen and king

The Associated Student Government and Student Alumni Association announced Zan Johnson and Chimdera Nzelu as the 2019 Homecoming King and Queen and crowned them at the 2019 Homecoming Pep Rally hosted at the Greek Theatre last Friday, Nov. 1. The king and queen along with the Homecoming Court were also announced at halftime during the Mississippi State vs. Arkansas Homecoming football game on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Chimdera Nzelu from Plano, Texas, is a senior nursing major in the College of Education and Health Professions and was crowned the 2019 Homecoming queen. She was nominated by the Inspirational Chorale. Escorting her on the field was the 2019 Homecoming king, Zan Johnson. Zan, a senior majoring in industrial engineering in the College of Engineering and economics, is from Olathe, Kansas. He was nominated by the Volunteer Action Center. Congratulations to Chimdera and Zan!

Chimdera and Zan were crowned by the 2018 Homecoming king and queen, Matty Cato and Lydia Fielder. Matty graduated with a degree in biochemistry from the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences and is from Conway. Lydia Fielder, the 2018 Homecoming queen graduated with a degree in journalism from the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. She is from Bentonville. Assisting Cato and Fielder with the crowning of the king and queen was Chancellor Joe Steinmetz.
